Literary Analysis Of Great Expectations - 1443 Words

Charles Dickens is a well-known author famous for his skillful and distinctive writing style. One of the novels in which Dickens best demonstrates his masterful style is Great Expectations. In this book, many literary elements are employed to develop a cleverly blended story. To create a unique effect, comedy, tragedy, and garish features are mixed together throughout. The wide array of writing patterns used by Dickens can be found over the course of the entire book and exemplified in many different chapters. From the instant this novel starts, Dickens establishes himself as a valid writer and his work as a piece worth literary attention. He accomplishes this by first making his story seem grim, as Pip describes the gravestones of his†¦show more content†¦The inclusion of elaborate details of this seemingly harmful man is also another strategy Dickens uses to help readers sympathize with Pip as he faces a more imminent problem. The reader is already invested in Pip after hearing about the fate of his family. Putting Pip in harm’s way not only creates even more sympathy, but also adds the new aspect of suspense. As Pip describes the situations he encounters, he manages to do so in a very unique way. The narration of this story is in first person, but it is told as an aged Pip reflects back on his younger years. This narration gives the novel dramatic irony; the narrator and the reader know what will happen before the actual characters. This irony is typically apparent when Pip comments on his current state, revealing that he is telling this story as an older person. Although this point of view has an influence on the entire book, it serves a unique purpose in the first chapter specifically. The grave situations in chapter one give the story a very serious tone, but this irony helps to give the chapter a lighthearted note as well. At first the situations being described seem urgent but then Pip gives the reader hints that he is older and has survived the situation. Knowing that Pip survives into adulthood helps make some of the descriptions come across as less somber. For example, the scene where the convict is threatening Pip by hanging him by his feet is very intense, but it is made lighter by the reader’sShow MoreRelatedGreat Expectations - Literary Analysis1674 Words   |  7 PagesAn Evaluation of Pip, and His Great Expectations In the year 1860, author Charles Dicken’s began his thirteenth novel, Great Expectations. Over several decennaries Industrial Relations in many industrialised market economic systems of the West. and besides in Australia and New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific every bit good as in the South Asiatic states. paid less attending to competitiveness than did the younger ‘discipline’ human resource direction. Industrial Relations fulfilled the map of supplying employees with a corporate voice. and brotherhoods with the agencies to set up standardised footings and conditions of employment non merely within an endeavor but besides across an industry. and sometimes across an economic system. This was achiev ed through the freedom of association. corporate bargaining and the right to strike. Similar consequences were achieved in the South Asiatic sub-region where political democracy. and sometimes socialist political orientation. provided tremendous bargaining power and influence on legislative results to flush brotherhoods with comparatively few members. A different Industrial Relations government emerged in some of the South-East and East Asiatic economic systems ( as we will see ) . driven by competition in export markets and different political systems bearing small resemblance to the values underpinning Western-style democracies. ( Koika 1996 ) The 1990s in peculiar informants an increasing involvement in Human Resource Management. including in Asia. This is likely to transform rhetoric into more widespread patterns and execution policies. Among the factors that have contributed to the increased involvement in Human Resource Management are the undermentioned: The displacement from turn toing issues related to the employment relationship at degrees external to the endeavor degree. This displacement is associated with the thought propagated by employees that in an progressively globalized environment fight is won or lost at the degree of the endeavor and industry. As such alterations that are needed to do endeavor competitory and best be effected by fiting organisational and single ends which requires action at the endeavor degree. Since by it’s really nature. Human Resource Management operates at the endeavor degree ; it is being viewed by employers as the preferable method. Nipponese patterns in their big endeavors have reflected a successful blend of collectivized Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. made possible to some extent by their endeavor brotherhood system which ahs facilitated brotherhood engagement in Human Resource Management initiatives through mechanisms such as their joint audience system. Among trading companies and distributers. the ratio of portion clip workers to entire employees is high. Due to an emerging tendency of allowing parttime workers become portion of a company’s brotherhood. the tendering of making parttime workers organisation is going stronger. ( Hashimoto. 1990 ) . The virtues of the Nipponese manner of direction have become a topic of argument late as the Nipponese economic system continues to endure under relentless troubles. Particularly since the prostration of the bible economic system. the one time world-acclaimed Nipponese theoretical account tends to be discarded or ignored. regarded as inefficient and incompatible with reform. More late. the system is being re-evaluated particularly by concern leasers who successfully revamped their companies amidst the goral persistent serious stagnancy that Nipponese concerns had entered into. ( Chew. 2005 ) Entering the last decennary of the 20Thursdaycentury. the economic environment impacting Nipponese houses changed well. The long term growing rate had been on a down ward tendency before so. but accelerated even further in the 1990s. The one-year mean growing rate. which stood at 10. 5 per cent in the 1980s and finally around one per centum in the 1990s. Nipponese houses can no longer anticipate changeless economic growing and have come under force per unit area to take steps such as retrenchment or shutting subdivisions or mills. Consequently. they are obliged to avoid fixed labor costs and are imploring to outsource at the same clip. they are cutting back on regular employees and increasing the figure of parttime dispatched and other types of work is with fixed turn labour contracts. In add-on. as an increasing figure of larger houses enter into bankruptcy. the employment security of bing employees has been undermined. irrespective of the wants of employees. ( Chew. 2005 ) Escalating competition among houses. both domestically and on an international graduated table. together with a worsening economic growing is holding a considerable impact on company employment patterns. Nipponese houses have been and remain to the full cognizant or planetary competition and the demand for heighten their export strength. ( Morishima. 1992 ) The function of the authorities in Japan refers to the substructure provided by public investing in research and development. which facilitates diffusion of inventions. informal audiences between the province and companies. The Nipponese Keivetsu ( Conglomerate or web of houses ) system Fosters closer cooperation between houses than in most other states. offering advantages which rival those commonly obtained through perpendicular integrating in big US or western houses. Their privileged relationship with alone providers gives the Klevetsi more flexibleness and a more long-run prospective compared with North American houses. ( Morishima. 1992 ) Mention: Hashimoto. Food Matter Political Factors and Economic Factors

Question: Discuss about theFood Matterfor Political Factors and Economic Factors. Answer: Introduction Food choice is one of the essential aspects in the world that reflects a research or study on the selection of food by individuals. Food choice is one of the critical factors for individuals that consider several factors on social matters, law regulations, political factors and economic factors. Choice of food comprises of psychological aspects and sociological aspects that defines the taste preference of the individuals, attributes of sensory, cost that individuals are willing to pay for, availability of the food and other cultural factors (List, John and Anya 2015). The following assignment presents the relevant and significant factors on choice of food in compliance with the food policy. The assignment also discusses about the essential issues with respect to the sustainability in case of choice of food. Discussion Food choice by individuals depends on several factors, which is a primary subject of nutrition, psychology, sociology, food science and other sectors related to food. Food choice depends on various factors like human behavior, human nature, taste preference, budget specification, cultural familiarity, consumption behavior and other economic factors. Food industry is one of the largest industries across the globe that operates by considering the consumers choices on budget, taste and availability (van Meer et al. 2016). There are several conceptual frameworks on human behavior for selecting the food according to the available factors. One of the significant factors considered in food choice is taste preference that varies from person to person and by considering other natural factors. It also depends on the willingness to consume food with respect to the quantity, quality, costs and availability. It has been noticed that around 25% of the Australian population belong to the category o f supertasters while 50% are considered as tasters who like to consume wide variety foods. Another factor that considers the selection of food is known influence of environment that undertakes price, taste and availability together (lvarez-Camacho et al. 2016). Some of the food availability depends on environmental factors with respect to the climate conditions, pricing factors and consumption habit of the individuals in particular regions. For instance, 60 percent of the individuals inclined to prefer snacks whereas 52 percent of the population inclined to prefer soft drinks and other sweet foods. Sustainability is one of the primary measures of food choice that considers the consumption preference with respect to the nature of food. Sustainability in case of food choice indicates the principles and practices to fulfill the requirement of society and community to protect the health and preferences. Considering the article on sustainability labels on products: consumer motivation, understanding and use under the Food Policy 44 (2014), it has been observed that the food items should be in relation with the sustainability label and consumer motivation (Garca-Segovia et al. 2015). According to the article, sustainability with respect to the food and beverages depends on the living standards of the consumers that include the demographic factors of the consumers. Sustainability of food is measures on the basis of the quality of the preparation that may cause harm to the community if it is observed that the quality of the food is compromised. Food sustainability is important for grow ing concerns that are being produced by the organizations to incur profit without providing concern for the product quality. Food choice sustainability considers the quality resources for the production of food or cultivation of food crops important for the health of the consumers (Philbeck, John and Jessica 2015). Sustainability on food choice is important for certain issues including the food system, consumers demand and health along with the pricing and quality of the food products. Since the population across the globe is increasing that has crossed around 9 billion within the period of 25 years, food is one of the primary sources for consumers. Accordingly, the quality is supposed to be high and nutritious in consideration with the food system related to the food science (Verain et al. 2015). It has been observed that in many regions, system of food is not sustainable since the population of around 7 billion experience poor quality of food products even though they get enough quantity. It is important to manage the sustainability of food choice with respect to the natural resources in agriculture and cultivation. Most of the food production system experience pollution from greenhouse gas emissions and livestock production that hampers the quality (Vecchio, Riccardo, and Azzurra Annunziata 2015). Article on does the sustainability of food products influence consumer choices? The case of Italy."Proceedings in Food System Dynamics(2013) examines the influence of choice of food by consumers. It had been observed that the increase in demand for food products among the large population affects the environmental sustainability along with the food sustainability. It was further, observed that the consumers preference on food choice largely depends on the lifestyle and values that affect the demand supply chain as per economic conditions (Siegrist et al. 2015). It was analyzed that the environmental factors affect the selection criteria among the consumers that eventually affect the sustainability of food choice. Sustainability in food choice enhances the health of the consumers in terms of food consumption that ultimately affect the economic condition of the regions. However, committee and boards on food developed policies on food to examine the quality of food by managing the prici ng of the food products with the significant implications on the process of productions. The food policy includes the utilization of advanced means of equipment to produce or cultivate the food products results in healthy and nutritious food (Van Loo et al. 2015). The principles on food sustainability affect the system of sociological, economical and household community depending on the source and level of income of Australian population. It has been noticed that the individuals having lower level of income are required to invest around 40% of the total earnings for acquisition of nutritious food products whereas group with higher earning incurs 10% of the income. Additionally, choice of food establishes the relationship between the food security and sustainability issues by measuring the essential elements of exposure and capabilities. It had been established that the sustainability food choice utilize the natural resources to the optimum level in order to eradicate the insecuritie s and wastes in food products (Nuttavuthisit, Krittinee, and John Thgersen 2015). Conclusion It can be concluded from the above discussion that food choice is one of the basic and primary requirements for human consumption. Choice of food depends on several preferences of individuals that include tastes, price, quality, behavior and nature of individuals. Further, preferences of the individuals also depends on several factors in context to the social needs, economical conditions, climatic conditions, availability of food products and the level of income. Food choice is largely based on the sustainability that considers the nutrition and healthy food as per the earning level of the individuals. Food choice sustainability considers all the relevant factors on production and cultivation of food to maintain the quality of the products as well as avoiding the wastes and unhygienic resources. It had been noted that the food sustainability is important to consider because the economic growth of the country is largely dependent on the choice of food products relative to the quality and price. Choice of food depends on the taste preference of the consumer while it is largely depends on the environmental aspects, availability and social influence. Most of the individuals prefer to invest large amount to consume the good quality products even though the price of the product is high. However, the sustainability measures on food is regulated by several measures of food policy that requires the production of food by using the advanced technology means to maintain the hygiene and quality.
